How I Started
After a decade of teaching i’ve heard it all too often that children and teenagers are either bored of school, not inspired, are left behind or aren’t challenged to reach their full potential. Schools are few to the many and with all the best intentions, sometimes they can’t give a child everything they need.
I was a bored teenager at school too. I was unmotivated and uninspired most of the time.
So, when I became a tutor I knew I had to be different. I had to be everything I wish I had at school.
I make sure that I inspire my students. I equip them with the skills needed for the GCSE Exams but also the tools for school. Confidence, questioning, inference and problem solving; these are the building blocks to success at school.
Nothing makes me more sure that I’m doing what I love and helping students grow than when a parent texts to say “Sarah, parents evening went so well” or “Sarah, Imogen read out loud in class today” or when a student messages me and says “Sarah, I got a grade 8 in my mock!” or “Sarah, I passed! I got a 6 in Lit & a 7 in Lang.”
